Why you should be involved with your childs' education

Research has proven that children whose parents are involved in their education have better attitudes, grades, and school attendance. There is absolutely no reason for a parent to not be an active participant of their childs' education.

You work? Sit down and so homework WITH your child. Read with your child (20 minutes a day!) Attend parent-teacher conferences! Email your child(ren)s teacher every once in awhile to check on how they are doing in class.

Have time during the day? Volunteer in the classroom! Can't stand the other kids? Make copies for the teacher. Prepare some materials for him or her. Help out with the PTO/PTA.

I have been involved with the kiddos' education ever since she started in preschool. This is the first year I have been home and able to go into the classroom pretty much any time, any day. I haven't yet made it in, but will be starting next week. When your child is in preschool/kindergarten it is so much fun! You get to do a lot of crafts and fun things. Once the numbers begin (1st, 2nd, etc.) the crafts start to disappear and reading and math help begin. This is when it is really important to become an active helper!

It is my opinion that children in the country are scoring lower on assessments because the parents are lacking in proper education help. It is not up to the teachers in the country only. They are our children, how about we work with those who have been trained and help our children to excel in their education?
